Adventure awaits

Omgosh, my bloggy is feeling a bit unloved at the moment!

You know when you just see a paper and have to create with it right then! Well, I came across this divine My Mind's Eye paper from the Jubilee line last week and created this layout the same afternoon. Perfect for documenting a moment from our recent school holiday travels... the car (and roof) absolutely jam-packed with camping gear. My DH had just told me matter of factly, that it was now time for trailer!
The wood cut is from Heidi Swapp 'September Skies' which you can find in the Sassy Scrappers store. I have inked it in rainbow shades and then given it a clear heat emboss to make the colour really pop.
The pattern is perfect for my theme but I wanted to bring in a bit of subtle colour to tie in with the photo and the wood cut. I've taken some fine tipped coloured pens and traced loosely around a few areas.
Finally tucking into my Heidi Swapp Project Life kit, I've used one of the clear 3x4 cards and with a brad, secured it over my journalling which has been printed on a card from Crate's 'Notes 'n Things'. I can slide the acetate open to read the print clearly.
Wishing you all well!

Too cute to spook - Jenni Bowlin Studio

Right now, the cutest Jenni Bowlin Studio Vintage Halloween kit is on sale! I have used it, along with the very versatile Printer's Block Alphas to create this hybrid Halloween party invitation.

The pocket was created by printing off some ‘Starry Night’ paper onto plain card stock. It took a bit of time to work out the double sided printing, hehe! I have tiled the star print at the bottom a bit, so I could have the pattern show when I folded it over. The children and pumpkin have been fussy for interest. Machine stitch your pocket closed.

The invitation title was half printed directly onto the design and half printed off onto card stock and cut out. This adds great dimension. Machine stitch it on for even more definition.

The reverse is a journalling card, increased to a large size. For a seamless look, sample the cream colour of the card and give your background the same colour so you don’t get a white edge. The design of this card has been set in a word procession programme (I use InDesign).

For a final flourish, the cute kitty has been given a slick of Glossy Accents to make her pop on the paper.

I'm sure you'll agree, it's too cute to spook! For more info and to see the other DT girl's awesome examples, head over to the JBS Inspiration blog.

A witch and her little monsters

Those who know me, know how much I LOVE Halloween. Thankfully it is gaining momentum in Australia so I don't feel like the only crazy in the street, decorating my house and dressing up!

The gorgeous colours and fun critters in the Frankie and Friends collection from Simple Stories are perfect for my snaps from the annual parties we have at my place on All Hallows Eve!
That 4x6 card could not be more perfect for this pic! I have hand stitched the detail in the laces for a bit of fun.
The main photo opens to reveal another picture and some journalling.
All of our favourite things to do on Halloween! Dressing up is my best :)

Jazz up a simple dot pattern with rhinestones! I have dotted various sizes in complementary colours and given a couple a bit of gloss and depth with Glossy Accents.
Thanks so much for popping in. I will be back tomorrow with some info on a fun challenge that I hope you might have time for!

I'm going to Instagram this so hard

Hoping this post finds you enjoying your weekend. It's footy grand final fever in my street today, with bbq smells, music pumping and sporadic yells!

I played along with this week's Society52 challenge. Themes are announced on a Monday, with a 'twist' introduced on a Thursday. Find them on Instagram @society52.

This week the challenge was to create a background using tags with the twist being to add stars. I was reluctant to add mine as it's not exactly completely tags, but I'll just share what I've created with you anyway...

This is the 'before' pic. I've used paper and vellum tags and cut my photo into a tag shape.
This is the layout with stars added. I've popped some Studio Calico vellum stickers and
wood veneer stars along with a larger star from the new Heidi Swapp September Skies wood veneer.
Some close ups

The heading (which is a touch tricky to see) is a digital file from a Paislee Press/One Little Word collab called sm(art) mouth no2. I converted it to a cut file for my Silhouette and stitched it down with my sewing machine.

Details of a beautiful morning spent at Flat Rock campsite in Ballina, have been printed onto vellum and trimmed to a tag shape as well.

There will be a new challenge up this week - why not have a go!

See you soon

Miss you with all my heart

This month, Sassy Scrappers will be supporting Breast Cancer awareness and
raising funds to fight this disease, that has impacted so many of us
in one way or another.

It is a cause very close to my own heart, having lost my Mother
to breast cancer on October 23, 1995.

This simple layout is my interpretation of the mood board
and uses a bit of the new Heidi Swapp September Skies collection,
which is currently in store.

Please head over to the Sassy blog to see the other DT girls
examples and find out more about the amazing prize that is
on offer this month. A percentage of sales is also being donated
as well as $1 for every person that enters our challenge this month.
The mood board is beautiful. Please play along with us and spread the word
so we can raise as much money as we can!

Thank you for visiting and thank you in advance for helping
us support such a worthy cause.
